Yesterday while I was flying from Amsterdam to Vancouver and discovered that I could send SMS and/or Emails from within the MD-11, using the individual console that is provided to each passenger. So the process of sending an email goes like :
- Take out the console controller
- Navigate to the SMS / email item
- Pass your credit card into the console
- decide between SMS/email
- Write your email with the virtual keyboard
- Send it
So it seems the message is first sent to a gateway and then to the users, the headers look like :

Vancouver has free Wifi, that's cool - it's like in Helsinki , though. I didn't stay much in the airport wan won't stay much in it either. But nice to know that free wifi is available in the airport.
Why bother since YVR has Free wifi (the only airport I have been to in Canada that have that) ? :-)
