So I'm about to add some content to flickr, and I want that content to be found. So the idea is to add tags as these will serves as keywords for searches queries. The issue I have with tags is when the tag itself is build with more than one word. Say for instance "Golden Circle" will be the tag for a few pictures I have taken. My issue is with the way I can add a multi-worded tag, I can add "Circle" + "Golden", or "Golden Circle" or the three of them. I think that adding the three of them is not efficient and I like things most of the time to be efficient. The issue is that flikr will change "Golden Circle" to "GoldenCircle". Anybody as hints on how tags should be used in this case ?
Yep, I added (with the quotes) "golden gate" to http://www.flickr.com/photos/lhirlimann/564488184/
If I go to search your photos with tags-only mode,
fails...
search on: golden
or: gate
or: golden gate
success...
search on: "golden gate" (with quotes)
or: goldengate (no space)
and yep in some views it flattens out the space, eg. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lhirlimann/tags/goldengate/
All in all a bit confusing... but I'd go with the quoted phrases. If you use quotes, the tag on the page preserves space, even if it appears without whitespace in other contexts.
Flickr seems to ignore spaces during searches, so if you tag as "Golden Circle", you should have a tag that is both readable and findable.
Adding "foo" + "bar" for "foo bar" is something I find deeply annoying when I am searching for a "foo" or "bar" that has no relation whatsoever to "foo bar".
