j'ai passé 12h00 au travail. Et j'ai mal à ma nouvelle dent.

That's the news of the day :"Our next immediate hurdle is releasing a beta for 0.8 so we can get some expanded testing before releasing 0.8 final. Our core of nightly testers is dilligent but the more people pounding on it, the better. As soon as Mozilla 1.7 goes final, we'll branch and see what's involved in our own beta.".
Having a beta test is the good approach in my opinion, this will bring more users to test the nightly, we need more basic qa to be done on those. If leaf could rapidly set up whats needed for Camino to be able to include talckback again in Camino, so we get some feedback from the users who don't use bugzilla.mozilla.org. IMHO this will bring use some interesting feedback.
When 0.8 is out we need to start the localization effort for Camino. I should get in touch with peterv, because he's the one at mozilla Europe working coordinating mozilla translation, in order to ask him if he wants/can coordinate such effort. I'm thinking about it because I've been contacted by a member of geckozone, saying he almost finished the translation of localization.strings in french. I met that guy over at FOSDEM 2004 and he volunteered to translate. In order to really and completely translate Camino one needs to have the developers tools in order to tranlates the .nib files that we use in the project.
Yesterday I AIMed a friend of mine telling him about Camino. He wanted to know what will be new in 0.8 I answered : " New bookmark Manager, Download manager and speed improvment". He then asked me why no browser allowed a search in bookmark functionnality - I answered try Camino. He's been using Safari since Apple released it. He might be trying to use it. We need to get in touch with mozilla.org's marketing team to be sure the beta release is know to the world and the news get's posted to the mac news sites. That the beta gets know in version tracker. Work has started on updating Camino's project page.

Well now that I have a new development machine I started to review patches again. I need to find more time to be able to participate more. Now we need to branch so we won't have red trees in the near furure and can concentrate on our bug list.Simon seems to be gone :-(.

I can now build with less time then before on my new laptop. I have enough RAM (768 Mo) and thus can launch the debugger and play with it.

Voila c'est fait je reviens du bureau de vote. J'ai la chance de voter aux régionales et aux cantonales. Ils m'ont demandé de venir dépouiller ce soir, et j'irais. J'encourage mes lecteurs français à aller voter.

Ca y est j'ai ma nouvelle machine. C'est donc un G4@1Ghz avec 768 Mo de mémoire, 40 Gig de disque dur, Airport. Elle va remplacer perso, qui plus que jamais va me servir de tête de pont et de serveur Web. Perso me servira aussi à certains test pour Camino, car perso va rester en 10.2.x.
J'ai reinstallé Panther, que j'ai mis à jour (une bonne heure). Le téléchargement des outils de dévelopement, Xcode m'a pris 3 heures, merci apple d'avoir fait des multi-fichiers c'est super chiant à gérer. J'ai ensuite installé les softs indispensables, MacSoup, Xchat-aqua, j'ai fait la synchro avec .mac.
Je doit encore reinstaller Thunderbird, et commencer à recompiler Camino. Je dois aussi faire la synchro bluetooth avec mon mobile.
Le passage de Tcsh à bash ne m'a pas encore dérangé, on verra par la suite ce que je choisirais comme shell de base. Faut aussi que je reinstalle Civ III afin de voir les différence qui existent entre un dual 450 et un mono 1 Ghz. Je suis déjà tombé amoureux d'exposé. Par contre le clavier manque d'une touche suprime, que j'utilise beaucoup.

Hier mon coequipier et moi avons bien fait de nous rendre au cnam. Les soutenances du projet commencent le 10 mai. C'est trés tot.

There's a great interview on minimo featured on nmc. Intersting to see such project funded by a device manufacturer. Good comparison is made with opera and IE, but they don't compare with product developed speciffically for smartphones ... An interesting read anyway.

Since I saw what SVG was and how cool the technology was I've decided to compile Mozilla + svg on my mac os X setup. notes found here says You need X11, I already had that installed. Fink is needed too, you need fink in order to install the gtk+ packages that is needed by Mozilla+SVG.
Once gtk+ is installed you need to edit your .mozconfig (see build instructions on mozilla's web site, on what gets in .mozconfig) in order to add specifc optyions to build with svg. Those options are :

ac_add_options --enable-svg
ac_add_options --enable-svg-renderer-libart
ac_add_options MOZ_INTERNAL_LIBART_LGPL=1

Next you need to set the environement variable MOZ_INTERNAL_LIBART_LGPL to 1. Once done you can build like any other mozilla, with a make -f client.mk.

J'ai visité le salon de l'agriculture ce matin.
Hall des régions
Dégustation des vins blancs des pays de la Loire, tel que le muscadet. Nous avons gouté 4 vins blancs différents accompagnés de paté divers. Une exellente initatitve de la région de la loire. Dans les stands de la région Alsace, j'ai mangé un bretzel accompagné d'un picon bière le tout pour 6 &euros - ça revient cher quand même. Enfin l'écomusée était lui aussi présent. Ce hall réservé habituellement à Apple Expo était trés trés orienté vente de produits avec quand même une bonne dizaine de restaurants.
Hall des jardins
Présence des banques dans ce hall. Sur le stand du minitère de l'agriculture j'ai trouvé comment devenir Maréchal Ferrant.
Un grand stand Macdo (pas trop loin du stand des Amis de la confédération Paysanne) afin de vendre une image propre de la chaine.
Un stand ivoirien, qui présentait des fèves de chocolat.
Enfin un stand trés intéressant sur les toits de chaumes.
Hall des animaux
Ce hall était plein à craquer - trop de monde de beaux animaux, mais décevant dans l'ensemble.

Ca y est j'ai commandé mon nouvel ordinateur personnel. C'est le premier laptop que j'achète ! Je l'ai pris dans la gamme PowerBook et non Ibook, car j'ai 20% de puissance de calcul en plus, le double de mémoire cache de niveau 2 soit 512 Ko. La puce de réception bluetooth est livré avec. Enfin et surtout je vais ajouter à la machine 512 Mo de RAM chose que je n'aurait pas pu faire sur un ibook.
La mémoire est importante lorsque l'on compile de grosses applications comme Mozilla, Camino. La machine sera livré avec 10.3.x, comme la carte graphique est récente je vais gouter aux joies de quatrz Extreme.

Today I started installing a new Compaq/HP 1u unit in order to be able to have our new anti-virus software working properly. To install such things it's better (or maybe you need) to use smartstart's CDs. What a suprise the new interface on the 6.40 version of the CD uses Mozilla with moderntheme. That's cool.
